Job Summary:

The Weigh Blend Operator I is responsible for performing assigned production activities within either the weighing or blending function of the Weigh Blend department. This position supports the accurate preparation and processing of raw materials used in the manufacture of nutritional products by following approved batch records, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and established safety and quality requirements.

The Weigh Blend Operator I performs assigned duties such as raw material verification, weighing or blending activities, material staging, equipment operation, cleaning and sanitation, and completion of required production documentation. The position is expected to develop proficiency within their assigned function while maintaining accurate ingredient accountability, traceability, and compliance with established procedures.

The position works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, and Inventory Control to ensure materials are accurately prepared and processed according to production requirements. The Weigh Blend Operator I is expected to demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, safe work practices, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and develop the skills necessary to advance within the Weigh Blend operation.

Duties and Responsibilities: Perform weighing and blending operations according to approved batch records, work instructions, and production schedules. Verify raw material identity, lot numbers, quantities, and expiration dates prior to use. Accurately weigh ingredients using approved scales and equipment according to batch specifications. Stage raw materials required for production while maintaining proper identification and traceability. Load and operate blending equipment according to established procedures. Monitor blending processes to ensure proper mixing, consistency, and product quality. Perform equipment setup, operation, cleaning, and basic adjustments as required. Complete batch records, material usage records, production logs, and other required documentation accurately and timely. Maintain accurate ingredient accountability throughout the weighing and blending process. Perform line clearance and verification activities before starting new batches. Identify and report discrepancies involving materials, documentation, equipment, or product quality. Follow proper handling procedures to prevent contamination, mix-ups, and product loss. Perform sampling activities as required by production or Quality Assurance procedures. Assist with material movement, staging, and inventory control activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment following GMP and 5S principles. Perform cleaning and sanitation of equipment, tools, and work areas according to established procedures. Follow all safety requirements, including proper PPE use and safe material handling practices. Communicate production concerns, equipment issues, and material shortages to supervisors. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction. Assist other production areas as needed to meet departmental goals. Accountability:

Direct accountability to the Production Manager

Qualifications and Guidelines: Experience/Training/Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, production procedures, and safety guidelines.

Basic math skills, including counting, measuring, and verifying quantities.

Ability to accurately complete production documentation and quality records.

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of:

Basic weighing and blending processes.

Raw material handling and identification procedures.

Batch records, production documentation, and traceability requirements.

cGMP, SOPs, sanitation procedures, and quality standards.

Safe handling of ingredients and production materials.

Basic operation of manufacturing equipment.

Workplace safety practices and PPE requirements.

GMP housekeeping and contamination prevention practices.

Skills/Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring and handling materials.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and production procedures.

Ability to accurately complete documentation and records.

Ability to safely operate production equipment after training.

Ability to identify and report material, equipment, or quality concerns.
