What you will be doing:
- Provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety, health, medical, and security programs in alignment with Hormel Foods Corporate Safety Policies, OSHA standards, and other applicable regulations.
- Champion a proactive safety culture by guiding and motivating employees at all levels to take ownership of safety practices.
- Oversee all aspects of medical services, including injury reporting, treatment, and return-to-work programs, while maintaining strong relationships with local healthcare providers to minimize workers' compensation costs.
- Manage the facility's security program, including oversight of contracted security services, to ensure the safety of personnel, property, and operations.
- Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including drills, inspections, and incident response across all shifts.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, including onboarding, PPE usage, and hazard-specific protocols, while serving as the site champion for the Alchemy training system.
- Ensure accurate and timely OSHA and medical recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement risk mitigation strategies and safety improvements.
- Lead the Safety Taskforce and employee safety recognition initiatives to promote engagement and accountability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent safety or supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in a salaried safety supervisor or similar leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated ability to build strong employee relations and foster a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
- Strong track record of initiative, achievement, and leadership in driving safety performance and compliance
- Ability to inspire and influence others to achieve safety goals and embrace continuous improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and persuasive communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver impactful training and presentation.
Preferred Requirements:
- Spanish fluency a plus, especially for team communication and training
