Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Tru Living Recovery is a CARF-accredited, adult behavioral health facility dedicated to providing transformative substance use and mental health treatment. We cultivate an energetic, proactive, and supportive environment where patients feel empowered to achieve long-term recovery and stability. We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team as an independent contractor (1099). In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality outpatient care to adults navigating co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges. Working within a collaborative, team-based ecosystem that includes social workers, counselors, and primary care physicians, you will utilize evidence-based practices to ensure participant safety, well-being, and progress. Typical caseload ranges from 20-40 patients at a time, 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
• Monitor patient progress, response to treatment, and recovery outcomes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive, integrated care.
• Provide patient education on mental health, substance use, and relapse prevention.
• Assess and manage psychiatric crises while ensuring trauma-informed, culturally competent care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR and participate in weekly team meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Idaho.
• Active PMHNP license with prescriptive authority in Idaho.
• DEA registration.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in psychiatric-mental health nursing.
• Competence in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and substance use disorder treatment.
• Skilled in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
