Job Title: Hospital Liaison - IA (Hiawatha)

OVERVIEW
Seeking a customer-focused Hospital Liaison to work directly within a hospital environment in the Hiawatha and Cedar Rapids area.

This role serves as the connection between hospital discharge teams and respiratory and durable medical equipment services. You'll work with case managers, social workers, nurses, physicians, patients, and caregivers to help ensure patients have the equipment, education, and support they need for a safe transition home.

  • Collaborate with hospital case managers, social workers, nurses, physicians, and discharge planners
  • Coordinate respiratory and DME services for patients preparing to leave the hospital
  • Ensure timely delivery and setup of respiratory and durable medical equipment
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper equipment operation, safety, and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate referral forms, insurance verification documentation, delivery tickets, and activity records
  • Serve as a trusted resource for hospital personnel regarding available services
  • Help resolve urgent equipment needs and troubleshoot service concerns
  • Maintain strong working relationships with hospital personnel and referral sources
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and applicable healthcare compliance programs
  • Provide educational programs and in service training when needed
  • Represent professionally at hospital meetings and other healthcare events
  • Travel to patient homes for equipment setup and follow up when required
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position and company procedures


WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Permanent full time employment
  • Tuesday through Saturday schedule - 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • No on call responsibilities
  • Primary work location inside the hospital
  • Direct collaboration with case management and clinical teams
  • Daily interaction with patients and caregivers
  • Combination of discharge coordination, customer service, patient education, and DME support
  • Occasional travel to patient homes when required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required


PREFERRED

  • Hospital or medical experience
  • DME or home medical equipment experience
  • Healthcare coordination experience
  • Medical administration experience
  • Patient service or patient access experience
  • Familiarity with medical billing and insurance reimbursement
  • Medical records experience
  • At least three years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Familiarity with respiratory and durable medical equipment preferred
  • Ability to safely load, unload, and secure equipment according to company procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment concerns


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 65 pounds
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, and listening throughout the workday
  • Close visual work involving computer screens, tablets, paperwork, and equipment
  • Regular interaction with patients and medical equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens
  • Driving may be required for patient home visits and equipment support
