Neuro ICU APP 3x12hr Night Shifts Level I Trauma Academic Center New Orleans, LA

Step into a dynamic Neuro ICU role at a leading academic research hospital in downtown New Orleans. This position is ideal for experienced APPs seeking high-acuity care, procedural autonomy, and collaborative team-based critical care.

Position Highlights:
  • Schedule: 3x12hr night shifts/week

  • Facility: 446-bed hospital 16-bed Neuro ICU Level I Trauma Center

  • Team: In-house 24/7 APP coverage, Neurocritical Care attendings, RN, RT, +/- additional APPs

  • EMR: EPIC

  • Patient Population: Adults (>18 yo) with complex neurologic diagnoses (e.g., stroke, ICH, SAH, TBI)

Core Responsibilities:
  • Neuro ICU management: admissions, rounding, progress notes, discharges

  • Perform and assist with procedures (e.g., NG tube placement, I&D, wound care)

  • Provide advanced critical care: ventilator management, sedation, ICP management

  • Participate in stroke pathways and document core stroke measures (NIHSS, Hunt & Hess, etc.)

  • Collaborate on high-morbidity post-op Neurosurgery cases (craniotomies, aneurysms, spine surgeries)

️ Preferred Procedural Skills:
  • CVC & arterial line insertion, lumbar puncture

  • Neuroimaging interpretation (CT, CXR), ECG reading

  • Familiarity with ICP, seizure protocols, neuro exam localization, EEG, and more

Requirements:
  • Certifications: ENLS, ACLS, BLS

  • Experience: Minimum 2 3 years (Neuro ICU or Critical Care strongly preferred)

  • License: Louisiana APRN license + DEA & CSR

  • Board Certification: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care or equivalent

  • Credentialing Timeframe: 60 days
