Mechanic Shop Hand

Job Description Job Description About the Role: Sarge Trucking Services is looking for a hardworking and motivated Mechanic Shop Hand to join our team in Carlsbad, NM! Responsibilities:

• Assist lead mechanics with preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections on commercial trucks and equipment
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and tire changes
• Keep the shop, breakroom and restrooms clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies
• Retrieve parts, tools, and materials to support mechanics during repair jobs
• Dispose of waste fluids and materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving vehicles and equipment around the shop yard
• Follow all shop safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, trucks, or heavy equipment is a plus
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take direction
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus but not required
• Prior experience in a mechanical or shop environment preferred but not required
• Reliable, punctual, and a team-oriented attitude
• Can pass a drug test
• Familiarity with phone and desktop apps
