The Telecom Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of telecommunications systems and equipment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling, network infrastructure, and telecommunications hardware and is comfortable working in different environments, including elevated work areas and confined spaces.


What You'll Do

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Install and mount racks, cabinets, patch panels, switches, and other network equipment
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and installation plans
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and system issues and perform necessary repairs and upgrades
  • Perform telecommunications installation and service work in commercial, residential, and data center environments
  • Follow all applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, testing, inspections, maintenance, and service activities
  • Communicate professionally with clients, project managers, technicians, and other team members
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Work on ladders and at elevated heights when required
  • Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and professionalism on every jobsite


What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is preferred
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, telecommunications, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of cabling, signal transmission, and network infrastructure
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting both copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and network infrastructure practices
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and handle telecommunications equipment
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in commercial environments, high-rise buildings, and new construction
  • Previous customer-facing field service experience
  • BICSI, FOA, or manufacturer-specific certifications or training
  • Additional experience with fiber testing, termination, and troubleshooting


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position may require work in:

  • New construction sites


Technicians must be comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and on ladders, while safely using hand and power tools and handling telecommunications equipment.
