Head Chef (Japanese Hot Foods)

Ginza Ichiban Cuisine is located at Rita Rd., Quesnel, BC V2J 0C2. We are currently looking for a permanent, full time Head Chef (Japanese Hot Foods). If you are interested, please submit your applicaiton by e-mail or mail.

Position: Head Chef (Japanese Hot Foods)
Wage: CAD $39.00 per hour
Types: Full-time, Permanent (various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays)
Working hours: 30-40 hours per week
Benefits: 4% vacation pay

Job Duties:
Plan and direct the preparation and cooking of Japanese hot food and other cooked dishes;
Prepare and cook a variety of Japanese hot dishes, including grilled, fried, simmered, noodle, and rice dishes;
Plan menus, develop specialty dishes and chefs specials, and ensure food meets quality and presentation standards;
Estimate food requirements and assist in controlling food and labour costs;
Oversee food preparation, portioning, cooking methods, and presentation to maintain consistency and quality;
Supervise, train, and coordinate other kitchen staff;
Ensure food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operating standards are maintained;
Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs and participate in the recruitment and hiring of kitchen staff.

Job Requirements:
Completion of secondary school is required
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial food preparation, including two years in a supervisory capacity and experience as a chef, is required
Proficiency in preparing a variety of hot Japanese dishes using traditional Japanese cooking techniques, including grilling, frying, simmering, and preparing sauces and broths, is required
Skills demonstrations, including taste and plating abilities, may be required
Language at work: English
