Design Hire is seeking a Drafter on behalf of our client, a collaborative engineering and manufacturing organization where precision design and hands-on production expertise come together to support quality-driven projects. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys turning engineering concepts into practical designs while working alongside a team that values innovation, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will contribute to projects involving mechanical design, fabrication, and manufacturing from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks to support engineering, fabrication, and manufacturing projects.
  • Apply knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, material applications, and assembly processes to develop practical and manufacturable designs.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support project execution and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and project teams to incorporate design changes, resolve drawing discrepancies, and meet project schedules.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office 365 and ERP systems to organize project information, support work order creation, and assist with inventory and material tracking.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software, including mechanical design and drawing creation.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Simulation for evaluating mechanical designs and supporting engineering decisions.
  • Background in 2D mechanical drafting and 3D mechanical modeling.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering concepts, hydraulics, and manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of engineering specifications, production requirements, and mechanical assembly methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with engineering and production teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • CAD certification is preferred or a plus.
