Join the First Nations Financial Management Board as a Corporate General Counsel, providing strategic legal guidance and supporting Indigenous governance. This hybrid role offers flexibility while you ensure compliance and mitigate risks. This position requires a seasoned legal professional with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and a minimum of 10 years' experience. You will act under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA), providing invaluable legal advice for corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with external stakeholders and guiding the Board in decision-making processes are key aspects of the role. Key Responsibilities: • Provide legal support in Board meetings and governance activities • Anticipate and mitigate legal risks through strategic advice • Draft and negotiate contracts, agreements, and policies • Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance • Liaise with external legal and regulatory bodies Requirements: • LLB or JD, and a practicing member of a Law Society • Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience • Background in corporate governance • Knowledge of ATIP and FMA • Excellent communication skills in English Support Indigenous governance and sustainability through legal expertise at FMB.
