CDL DRIVER

General Summary

Transport company goods and raw materials on truck or trailer with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) exceeding 26,000 lbs.

Essential Job Functions

1. Transport company goods and raw materials over land to and from distribution center, branches and suppliers all throughout Florida.
2. Ensure goods are properly secured inside of truck to prevent breakage or damage of material.
3. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and coordinate preventive maintenance.
4. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
5. Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients.
6. Manually or systematically document and log work/rest periods as well as mileage spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
7. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
8. Safely maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position.
9. Collect and verify delivery instructions before moving any load.
10. Report defects, accidents or violations.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A truck driving license.
• 2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred.
• OSHA Forklift certified.
• Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
• Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• No recent moving or driving violations.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
